Core development of game has been underway for four years, says CCO

100 developers working on Blizzard’s Project Titan

There are more than 100 developers working on Blizzard’s upcoming title code-named Project Titan, the studio’s chief creative officer has revealed.

Speaking to Curse Entertainment, Rob Pardo said the title, which it has yet to disclose much information on, was a very big project but still had a long way to go.

He added the game had been "in core development” for around four years, although much of this had been done by a smaller team than the studio had now moved onto the game.

"Titan’s still moving along,” said Pardo.

“I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up that it’s around the corner. It’s a very big project, it’s got along way to go. I don’t know yet when we’re going to start releasing more information. We’re definitely dead in the middle of development at this point.

“I think we’re over 100 people on the team now working on it.”

When asked how long the game had been in development, he said: “It depends on how you look at such things because when we first start a team we start it really, really small, it might just start just a couple people and we just talk about the concept and draw some concept art.

“It’s definitely not been in core development for that long. I’d say core development is maybe more closer to flour years, but even that was with a smaller team.”

Whilst little information has been revealed about the project, Develop was told last year by a source connected to the matter that Blizzard was working on a free-to-play title, which could perhaps lend itself to Project Titan.

This was not confirmed as the game in question however, and it should be noted that the studio has capacity for multiple projects.
