$1m H1Z1 Elite Series kicks off at Dreamhack Austin

Daybreak Games have announced a H1Z1 Elite Series, debuting with both solo and team events at DreamHack Atlanta in July.

The series is for H1Z1’s King of the Kill variant, which ditches the zombies and hardened survival for shootouts in a battle royale setting. This announcement comes the week after PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has announced an appearance at Dreamhack in Sweden next week.

This event in Atlanta will take place during Dreamhack on July 21-23, bringing the top KOTK players together, and it’s to be the first event around the world to bring people together in-person to battle across the North American, European, Asian Pacific and Latin American regions.

There are four events planned in this series, with $250,000 in prizes for each event. That means there’s $1m up for grabs in total. At Dreamhack, this breaks down to $150,000 in prizes for team tournament and $100,000 for the solo throwdown.

“The Elite Series shines a spotlight on the skill and passion of our players from around the world, bringing the community closer together through online programming and in-person competition. It’s an arena for the best head-to-head H1Z1 action and will undoubtedly have viewers and players on the edge of their seat,” said Mark Tuttle, Daybreak’s director of esports.

“There is nothing that can match the scale or intensity of an H1Z1 tournament where everyone is dropped in together, competing amidst the mayhem to be the last one standing, and we are excited to continue to develop this new genre of esports.”

Those looking to compete will need to qualify on site at Dreamhack, you can register on the Elite Series website.
