A Normal Lost phone and Simteractive win inagural Women in Games Mobile Awards

A Normal Lost Phone by French studio Accidental Queens, and Irish studio Simteractive have won the first Women in Game Mobile Awards, held at the European Women In Games Conference this week.

The first award, the Grand Prize was to recognise the best mobile title developed by women or a team headed up by a women. Mystery title A Normal Lost Phone claimed that prize with a special mention given to Irish studio Simteractive for Eden Isle: Resort Paradise.

Simteractive, however, didn’t have to wait long to be a winner as CEO Elaine Reynolds was awarded the second award for Leadership, recognising the accomplishments of an individual. Vickey Smalley of Small Jelly also received a special mention for this award.

In addition to the awards, there were some new inductees to the Women in Games Hall of Fame. Media Molecule’s Catherine Wooley and Wooga engineer Glenna Buford were inducted, joining Marie-Claire Isaaman, Debbie Bestwick CBE, Siobhan Reddy and Rhianna Pratchett.

An honorary award was given to critic Anita Sarkeesian, whose Feminist Frequency series recently ended. The award for Sarkeesian, an honorary hall of fame entry, is also the first for a non-European by the Women in Games organisation. Sarkeesian was also delivering a keynote for the European Women in Games conference.
