Z-Axis now known as Underground Development

Activision rebrands one of its internal studios

Firing Squad reports that Activision has changed the name of an internal studio with Z-Axis now going under the name Underground Development.

The Foster City, California-based studio previously developed a number of extreme sports games, including the now-defunct Acclaim’s notorious BMX XXX, and was acquired by Activision in 2002. Since then team worked on X-Men: The Official Game and helped with production of True Crime New York City.

Since then the firm has been reported as working on a mooted PS3 port of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, while job postings on the web say the team is working on "a soon to be announced project based on a successful Activision owned IP"

No reason was given for the rebrand.
