Reports emerging from the Irish press are claiming that US publisher Activision is on the verge of acquiring Dublin-based middleware firm DemonWare.

Activision set to buy DemonWare

Next Generation reports that yesterday’s edition of The Sunday Independent claimed that a deal worth $20 million is near to completion.

Since its inception in 2002, DemonWare’s online multiplayer technology has been used in titles such as THQ’s Saints Row, Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Vegas and Activison’s own Call of Duty 3.

The company’s two main products are the DemonWare State Engine and Matchmaking+, software packages that deal in online games coding and user statistics tracking.
