Amazing reviews for Super Mario Galaxy 2

Having hit US retail yesterday and well on track for its UK debut on July 11th, Nintendo’s Wii platform title Super Mario Galaxy 2 is on target to possibly become the best reviewed game ever.

At the moment that game currently boasts a 98 per cent rating on reviews aggregation site Metacritic.

So far the game is yet to receive any review score below 90 per cent and it has to date been given 14 number one’s from magazines and sites including Edge, 1UP, IGN, Games Radar, GameSpot and Eurogamer.

Only four other games have ever received 98 per cent on Metacritic – Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, Namco’s Soul Calibur and both the PS3 and Xbox 360 version’s of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV.

One game alone has ever scored higher with Nintendo’s 1998 N64 release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time standing at 99 per cent.
