Amazon developing smartphone with 3D screen – report

A smartphone with a 3D screen could be on the way from retailer-come-tech giant Amazon, according to online reports.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Amazon is currently developing a wide range of assorted tech products designed to accompany its Kindle tablet brand.

One of them is supposedly a high-end smartphone featuring a screen that allows for three-dimensional images without glasses”. Images would appear to float above the screen and appear three-dimensional from all angles.

The tech is supposedly being developed at Amazon’s Lab126 facility in California.

However, while the company is expected to debut some of its ambitious hardware in the coming months WSJ adds that some or all of the devices could be shelved because of performance, financial or other concerns”.

Amazon is also believed to be developing a set-top box for movie and TV streaming and a wi-fi streaming audio solution to compete with Spotify.
