Amazon UK download plans ‘a mystery’

Publishers are in the dark over Amazon’s UK?PC download store.

UK?PC firms have already signed a contract with the retail giant to get their games on the store, which was expected early in 2012.

But the store was delayed, with no new launch date set.

Amazon’s head of games Graham Chambers left the firm last year, which may have delayed the launch, publishers have speculated. Respected games veteran Frazer Locke is Amazon’s new games boss, but has yet to start.

We are due a meeting and expect to learn more then,” said one PC publisher. But it’s a mystery what’s taking so long.”
