Atlus claims its first No.1 UK with Persona 5

PlayStation exclusive Persona 5 has debuted at No.1 in its first week in the UK Top 40.

This is the first ever UK All Formats No.1 for Atlus, with GfK adding that the game enjoyed by far the biggest launch for a Persona title”. The title is published by Deep Silver in the UK and distributed by Koch Media.

It’s also the first JRPG to claim the top spot since Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch back in early 2013, with even big name contenders like Final Fantasy XV failing to chart at the top.

Last week’s No.1, EA’s Mass Effect: Andromeda slips down to fifth spot this week, while Ghost Recon: Wildlands holds firm in second place for the third successive week. Also hanging tight for a third week is Warner’s LEGO Worlds at No.3.

Speaking of LEGO – the PS4, Xbox One and Switch release of LEGO City Undercover propels sales of that game up 999 per cent and all the way up to No.8 in the charts.

The only other new entries are Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, which debuts at No.23, and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits which manages only 36th. Sister title Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls misses out on the Top 40 entirely.

Here’s the UK Top 10 for the week ending April 8th:

  1. Persona 5 (Atlus)
  2. Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Ubisoft)
  3. LEGO Worlds (Ubisoft)
  4. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)

  7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
  8. LEGO City Undercover (Warner)
