Microsoft has revealed that integrated streaming to its new Beam service and advanced eSports options are coming to Xbox Live.
During the company’s two hour Windows event, it was revealed that the upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update will add two extra features to Xbox Live on the platform.
First up is streaming to Beam, Microsoft’s new streaming service that it is using to try and take on Twitch.
This new functionality will allow gamers to stream any game almost instantly, by simply using the Game Bar that is accessible by pressing the Windows button and the G key when on Windows 10. A custom Beam streaming interface will also make managing a stream incredibly easy. The tech will also be built into the Xbox One, meaning anyone with a decent internet connection can steam to Beam.
The second major talking point is the update to the Xbox Arena. The Arena was initially used for a handful of basic tournaments, however the Creators Update will expand its functionality, allowing anyone to create and manage a tournament. Microsoft hopes this will open up the world of eSports to everyone, and possibly produce some of the pro gamers of the future.
Microsoft also used the event to quickly reveal that bitstream audio pass-through including Dolby Atmos support is coming soon to Xbox One.
