Maryland-based group Bethesda Softworks has been listed as the new publisher of A2M’s forgotten acrobatic shooter, Wet.
Wet – still in development at A2M’s offices in Canada – was one of numerous titles thought to have fallen victim to the Vivendi-Activision merger. Having lost its publisher for nearly a year, A2M’s upcoming title has been linked to Bethesda in both Famitsu (via Siliconera) and a product page at the game rental service GameFly (via Kotaku).
As the publishing powerhouse Activision-Blizzard formed, the group announced in July that a number of divestments would be made, leaving the likes of Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Ghostbusters, Brutal Legend and 50 Cent Blood on the Sand without a publisher.
As those high-profile titles picked up publishing deals throughout the following months, Wet had fallen into silence, sparking suggestions that the title may have been shelved.
Yet very recently A2M had put the game back in the spotlight by revealing new info and footage on the game. It is set for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2009.
Neither Bethesda nor A2M has announced any publishing partnership at this time. Develop is contacting the groups for confirmation.
