Bethesda expands global publishing ops with Moscow office

Bethesda has doubled down on its worldwide publishing efforts, announcing the opening of a new regional headquarters based in Moscow, Russia.

The new office will oversee sales and marketing across Russia, as well as in CIS nations – including the likes of Armenia, Moldova, and Kazakhstan. Joining the company as managing director, Russia, is former Bethesda consultant and employee at Wargaming and EA, Simeon Chirikov.

Sean Brennan, managing director at Bethesda Europe, said: “The opening of the office in Moscow is a very exciting moment for Bethesda. We have an incredible roster of upcoming games including Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls: Blades, Rage 2, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Doom Eternal, as well as a number of live titles that continue to perform well including The Elder Scrolls Online, Quake Champions, and The Elder Scrolls: Legends.”

He continued: “Simeon’s extensive knowledge of the Russian and CIS markets will help us to maximise and deliver upon all these titles’ potential.”

Bethesda has been steadily expanding and shoring up areas in the past year or so, completing the rebrand of already-owned studio Escalation, turning it into Bethesda Dallas, and hiring a new EU marketing chief in the shape of Sean Ratcliffe.

Outside of internal company changes, there’s been a bunch of discussion around Bethesda in relation to its cross-platform play policies – hinting the PS4 might not be the place to play should you want to include everyone.

None of this is likely to be discussed during the company’s War Child UK tie-in concert on November 3, which will see music from Fallout and the Elder Scrolls performed in front of a live audience, with all proceeds going to the charity.
