New studio looking "to create immersive, story-drive games for people who love games that ask something of them."

Bioshock developer Irrational Games rebrands as Ghost Story Games

Irrational Games have rebranded, taking on the moniker Ghost Story Games

This news was announced on Ghost Story Games new website. https://www.ghoststorygames.com/welcome-to-ghost-story on it, a short statement explains that Ghost Story has been founded by twelve former Irrational Games developers, and that "they’re looking to create immersive, story-drive games for people who love games that ask something of them."

The studio add that while they’re sure they’re new projects will have strong appeal to fans of Bioshock, they’re hoping that this new focus allows them to try new ideas and create games where the gameplay is as challenging as the stories. This is mysterious, but for now, that’s all we’re getting. The site notes there are 12 members on the founding team, including Ken Levine.

In a quote on the page, alongside several missives from other founders, art director Shawn Robertson says: “Ghost Story for me is defined by a small but experienced team working together to push the boundaries of what interactive narrative means. Because of the team size, there is a flat hierarchy and a strong DIY attitude that prevails at the studio. This means each team member has clear ownership and responsibility for how they are affecting the game. It’s great to come to work every day and see so much talent and passion working together towards a common goal.”
