BioWare has again been named in the annual ‘top 100 employer’ list devised by Mediacorp Canada.
The success marks the fifth time in six years that BioWare has featured as a standout Canadian company, this time beating some 2,750 other applicants who hoped to make it to the top 100.
BioWare was praised for giving staff time off after completing projects, as well as a seven-day Christmas break and another three weeks annual leave.
The studio was also praised for rewarding its long-term employees a seven week paid sabbatical after seven years on the job – described in the Top 100 as “an enlightened reward for the creative mind in an industry known for long hours and demanding schedules”.
BioWare staff are also given a $1200 bonus for referring new employees, are offered nutritious breakfast, and free access to an onsite gym.
The company, which is currently working on the Star Wars Old Republic MMO, has two studios across Canada at Edmonton and Montreal.
“It’s a huge honour to once again be recognised as one of Canada’s top employers, and testament to our entire team’s focus on sustaining and nurturing quality in the workplace, which is one of our core values," said Aaryn Flynn, studio general manager for BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal.
"As a creative company at the leading edge of interactive entertainment, this award affirms that BioWare is an employer of choice for current and prospective employees in Canada and around the world."
