'XBL Indie Games development can be a gateway to career progression' says Binary Tweed

Blitz picks Clover

In a heart warming twist of fate XBL Indie Game Clover, which was heavily inspired by the Dizzy series, has been signed by Blitz Game Studios, and will now appear via PC digital distribution. The game’s new publisher is of course the company of the Oliver brothers, who first found fame as creators of the original Dizzy games.

The new version of developer Binary Tweed’s game, now titled Clover: A Curious Tale, features significant updates, such as new animations, voice acting, extra gameplay elements and redesigned context-sensitive controls.

"At present it won’t be coming to XBLIG as we’re now way, way over the 150mb limit," said developer Daniel ‘Deejay’ Jones. "We’re also looking at other platforms, and I’d like to take the new version to everywhere that makes sense," he added.

The new version of Clover was picked up by Blitz as part of its 1>UP scheme, which offers small developers help with PR, distribution, and resources from concept to submission.

"I’m particularly pleased that XBLIG development has opened up this opportunity," stated Jones in his blog. "When first embarking on this venture, this was one of the possible outcomes I identified. Not only is the XBLIG market improving vastly, but the signing of Clover: A Curious Tale proves that XBLIG development can be a gateway to career progression.
