Capcom Cup will be best of fives and not best of threes as originally planned

The tournament format for the upcoming Capcom Cup has been switched with all games now being best of fives and not best of threes.

The original format for the competition stated that all games up to the round of 16 would be best of threes and then it would switch to the preferred best of fives. However a rule change has made all games at the tournament best of fives, giving players more time to play in each matchup.

The Capcom Cup is the big tournament finale of the Capcom Pro Tour, a year long Street Fighter V competition. Players have been competing at regional events throughout the year to try and book a slot at the Capcom Cup that will take place on December 2nd and 3rd. Day one takes place at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California with day two moving over to PlayStation Experience at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The prize pool currently sits at just over $350,000, with around $100,000 of that being crowd funded from purchases of in game items. Of course the winner will also get the title of being the best Street Fighter V player in the world.
