Angry Birds publisher Chillingo has extended its third party developer program to support developers making freemium-based social games on mobile platforms.
The firm’s Crystal SDK platform offers a range of monetisiation tools allowing revenue generation. It supports Apple’s iOS and Flash platforms. Other mobile platforms including Android are scheduled for inclusion in the latter part of 2010.
“We now offer our developers two alternative business models to engage gamers – the traditional one-off paid model, and a freemium model,” said co-founder and director of Chillingo Joe Wee.
“We have spent the past six months extending our technology framework. It now provides our developers and ultimately our customers more choice in how they choose to engage with social games on mobile platforms.”
