Creative Skillset’s Challenge Fund open for bidding

Games companies are among the sectors who can from today bid for a share of a sizable training funds pot.

Creative Skillset’s Challenge Fund is now open and accepting bids from games, film, TV, animation and VFX firms. Successful applicants will receive support with their training funding for the next two years.

It’s all funded by voluntary industry contributions with Government match funding industry pound for pound”. Applications can be for between 10,000 and 1m.

But in order to remain in the global games development league table, we need to plug identified skills gaps and shortages and the Challenge Fund could be an essential tool in achieving this.”

Minister for Culture Ed Vaizey added: The Challenge Fund will provide excellent opportunities for employers to bid for Government match funding to support training and skills in the digital content sectors. It will maintain the UK’s competitiveness, equipping new entrants with the skills and know-how to provide a dynamic future for the Creative Industries.

Innovation is at the heart of the Challenge Fund and we hope there will be applications that foster creativity and diversity to develop the skills base right across the country.”
