Event to bring together developers, publishers and funders to network and do business

Dare Indie Fest just one week away

The Dare Indie Fest is just one week away and organisers have promised to offer attendees tips on running a successful start-up.

The event has been designed to bring together independent developers, publishers, funders and commissioners to offer networking opportunities, as well the potential for business deals to be conducted.

More than 25 indie games will be featured at the Indie Fest, with developers from around the world showcasing their latest offerings.

Speakers at the event include CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson, Channel 4 commissioning editor for games Colin MacDonald, Tubulenz CEO Gavin Shields and Spilt Milk’s Andrew Smith.

UKIE is also bring a tax break consultation session aimed at indie developers to gain feedback from what they require from games tax breaks.

“Dare Indie Fest will be an incredible opportunity to learn about running a successful business, bringing together experienced developers, publishers and commissioners who are looking to invest, and the very best up-and-coming indie companies,” said Abertay University director of business development Paul Durrant.

“It’s all part of the Abertay Prototype Fund’s support for new and upcoming businesses. The Prototype Fund has helped indie developers secure six-figure publishing deals, and we’ll be looking to meet games developers who can apply for our £25,000 grants.”

The Dare Indie Fest will take place in Dundee’s Caird Hall between August 10th and 12th as part of the Dare Protoplay computer games festival.
