BAFTA-connected design competition expands its format

Dare to be Digital invites public submissions

Abertay University’s Dare to be Digital game design competition has introduced a new ‘Dream’ element, expanding the remit of submission rules to allow anybody to put forward new game concepts.

As with previous years, winning games from the competition are submitted as the sole nominees for the One to Watch award at the video game BAFTAs. Submissions for Dare to be Digital are now open, and conclude when members of the public and industry professionals vote for the best ideas, which then stand to see development.

While this year’s event marks an increased emphasis on public involvement, industry members have the ultimate decision about which titles win, and which games are shortlisted for the BAFTAs.

The competition organisers are still inviting game studios to take part as mentors and judges.
