Dark Souls 3 to be announced at E3, report claims

Bandai Namco will later this month announce that developer From Software is working on Dark Souls 3.

That’s according to VG247, which says that From boss Hidetaka Miyazaki – who led development of the first game but not Dark Souls 2 – will be back in charge for this third instalment.

The site speculates that the game may be announced during Sony’s press conference, although this doesn’t automatically imply that the game will be a PS4 exclusive.

From’s latest title, Bloodborne (also directed by Miyazaki), was released only for PS4. However, both previous Dark Souls games have been multiplatform affairs.

From currently has some additional content for Bloodborne in the works but has previously shown that it’s perfectly capable of developing content for two games simultaneously – both Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the Last Sin (effectively a director’s cut version of the game, which also marked its next-gen debut) were released within days of one another.
