Studio to use and license 3D tech

Darkworks partners with Trioviz

Parisian development studio Darkworks has announced that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide partnership with Trioviz to use and license the company’s 3D technology on video game consoles and PCs.

Having made the announcement at the 3D Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles, the studio is now showcasing the technology at the event. Unlike most stereoscopic 3D systems, which require specially enabled television sets, Trioviz makes use of specially developed glasses, meaning consumers do not have to replace existing screens.

Alexis Arragon, product development manager of Darkworks said: “This technology allows us to provide an incredible 3D gaming experience on existing CRT, Plasma and LCD TVs. We’re excited about the possibilities and opportunities that this will open up for us as game developers for consumers to enjoy. Full 3D gaming is the next revolution in video games. Consumers will be amazed at the depth of experience that we can provide with this technology.”

When applied to video games, the Trioviz system polls specific information from game data to produce 3D results in real-time. As part of the partnership Darkworks, which developed Alone In the Dark: The New Nightmare, will also be working on an SDK that will allow fellow studios to make use of the technology.
