High-end mobile shoot 'em up from ex-Eurocom developers behind Dead Space: Extraction

DeNA and UK dev EightPixelsSquare unveil iOS shooter Lawless

Mobile giant DeNA has announced a new shooter for iOS devices that is being co-developed by UK start-up EightPixelsSquare.

Lawless aims to bring "photorealistic arcade-style shooter" antics to iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. it is set in ’90s Los Angeles and challenges players to climb the ranks of criminal organisations – mostly through cover-based gun battles.

EightPixelsSquare was set up by key members of Eurocom after the long-running British studio closed last year. The team behind Lawless also worked on acclaimed shooter Dead Space: Extraction.

The studio is working with DeNA’s own developer Scattered Entertainment, which is based in Stockholm, Sweden and led by Ben Cousins.

"Lawless is an intense, skillful game designed as an ode to classic light gun shooters and filled with the retro Californian feel of ’90s bank robber movies," said Cousins.

"It’s been a great experience collaborating with the talented team involved with Dead Space: Extraction to bring a cinematic arcade shooter experience to mobile."

Any consumers that pre-register for Lawless will receive an exclusive in-game weapon: the Glock 17 Dual Wield.
