Bungie’s Destiny has hit 9.5 million registered players since its release two months ago.
Activision revealed in its financial results that users average more than three hours of gameplay per day on the shooter. It should be noted however that those registered players also include multiple accounts from individual users.
Activision’s Eric Hirshberg said work has already begun on a sequel to the game, and players can also expect expansion packs for the current release in future.
Elsewhere the number of registered players for its free-to-play collectible card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft stands at more than 20 million to date, playing a key role in a record third quarter for the publisher.
GAAP revenues for the three months ending September 30th were $753m, beating its forecasted outlook by just over $100m. It is also up from the $691m in revenue during the same period last year.
