We already know that Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon are on the way in this, the 20th anniversary year of Pokemon. But another title has now also been confirmed.
It’s called Pokemon Co-Master, Wired reports, and is a free-to-play digital boardgame in development for smartphones and tablets.
The project is being co-developed by both The Pokemon Company and Japanese studio Heroz, which is a specialist in AI and has previously developed other puzzle titles from which Pokemon Co-Master will borrow.
The turn-based games sees players move about their Pokemon pieces in an effort to win board dominance. It will also be compatible with a range of Amiibo-like figures, although it’s not known whether they will be NFC based or use an alternative tech.
The game is due out in the spring although it is currently only confirmed for Japan.
Co-Master will join not only Sun and Moon but also brawler Pokken, augmented reality release Pokemon GO and the re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow this year.
