Donya Labs signs licensing deal with Epic

Tools provider Donya Labs has signed a new licensing deal with Epic Games to use its Simplygon tech in two of the studio’s upcoming titles.

The 3D optimisation solution is currently being used in the upcoming Xbox 360 title Gears of War: Judgment and Infinity Blade: Dungeons for iOS.

Simplygon is to designed to help developers in creating level of detail (LODs) through various optimisation techniques such as smart polygon mesh reduction, as well as helping to streamline the 3D content pipeline.

“Simplygon provides high-quality mesh reduction and time-saving benefits to both Epic and to the Unreal Engine community through our Integrated Partners Program, which brings the best features of leading middleware technologies to developers,” said Epic VP Mark Rein.

"Using Simplygon for our own games ensures that the tools are always meeting the Epic quality bar.”
