Former Splatterhouse studio's CEO already creating new developer

Doors close on BottleRocket Entertainment

Development house BottleRocket Entertainment has confirmed to the industry that it has shut down.

The developer courted infamy earlier in the year when Namco pulled it from its work creating the return of cult arcade game Splatterhouse.

BottleRocket, which also developed the Mark of Kri titles for Sony, revealed in an email from president Jay Beard that it is to cease activity. Rumours about the studio, which was formed in 2002, have circulated since the Namco fiasco, suggesting finacial troubles cast a shadow over the company.

"After fighting to keep the doors open for the past six months we have decided to close and move on," said Beard, who praised the work of his colleagues and revealed he is working on establish a new studio "from the ground up".

BottleRocket was also rumoured to have been working on a game based on the DC Comics hero The Flash, for Brash Entertainment; a publisher which closed down only a year after it was formed.
