Andrew Wilson shuffles deck, all chiefs now report directly to new CEO

EA changes executive lineup

EA is making some substitutions to its managing lineup with executive vice president of EA Games development studios, Patrick Söderlund, taking charge of EA Sports, and Frank Gibeau – president of EA Labels since August 2011 – is now the head of the company’s mobile division.

The news was leaked earlier today by Polygon after a company-wide "town hal"l meeting, and later confirmed when VentureBeat obtained a memo from newly appointed EA CEO Andrew Wilson to EA employees.

While the titles themselves were not provided in the memo, it does specify what divisions the executives will take charge of, and who they’re reporting to.

That who happens to be Wilson himself, which suggests that the company may have done away with the chief operating officer role previously held by Peter Moore, at least for now.

This means that while many of the old guard have retained their positions, they’re now reporting directly to the CEO.

Those mentioned include Lucy Bradshaw, who remains head of Maxis, Rajat Taneja is still in charge of the tech platform, Blake Jorgensen has stayed put as CFO, Gabrielle Toledano is leading HR, and Joel Linzer, who heads up Legal and Business Affairs.

Wilson told employees that the big objectives were to deliver on the company’s fiscal year 2014 plan, and continue the transition to a “digital future”.

“Our priorities right now are simple – we must deliver on our FY14 plan, continue the transformation of our organization for our digital future, create amazing games and services, have a ruthless focus and execute,” he said.

“I will work closely with my senior management team to help drive these priorities through the organization.”
