Internal survey tells of increased satisfaction in workplace

EA staff morale on the rise

EA might have once been a difficult place to work, but that’s not the case anymore. So says the company, having revealed the results of an internal staff satisfaction survey to GameDaily.biz.

A total of 77 per cent of EA’s global workforce completed the survey, which revealed that 82 per cent of the staff felt in tune with the company’s new label/division structure, 80 per cent felt committed and trusting of their teams, that 87 per cent staff felt that knowledge was shared within teams and that 86 per cent felt that communication was open and respectful.

The core areas of the survey were posed as three questions: Alignment (“Do you feel alignd with the business strategy of and goals in your area, and do you know how you fit into these plans?”, 73 per cent favourable response), Capabilties (“Do you have the knowledge and skills to do your job, and do we collectively have the resources/skills to achieve our goals?”, 72 per cent favourable response) and Engagement (“Do you feel motivated and excited about your job, and are you committed to making EA better?”, 63 per cent favourable).

Speaking to GameDaily, Gabrielle Toledano, executive vice president of HR at EA, said: “As an executive team we’ve actually taken another look at our company values and we’ve reincorporated innovation and accountability and taking more risk, so there are a lot of things that we’ve been doing to implement change at EA.

“One of the questions was, ‘My work schedule allows sufficient flexibility to meet personal needs’ and that was 80 per cent favorable. We’re not in a bad place on this survey. We were in a bad place three to four years ago. There’s simply no tolerance at EA today for what was going on during EA Spouse.”
