EA: ‘We’re US and Europe’s No.1 publisher’

Electronic Arts has revealed that it took 20 per cent of all software sales in Europe in the last year – and 19 per cent in the North America.

The company said the success makes it the leader in the independent publisher sales chart on both sides of the Atlantic for the 12 months to March 31st, 2008.

The firm also revealed that it enjoyed 15 double platinum (two million-plus) titles in the year – ten more than it had in FY 2006-2007.

The firm added that on the Wii, EA was the number one third-party publisher in Europe in fiscal 2008 with a 15 percent share of all sales – up eight points from a year ago.

In North America, EA had 11 percent share – up one point from a year ago.

The numbers were revealed as part of EA’s full year fiscal announcement, in which the company reported record revenues of over $3 billion – but widened losses of $454 million.
