A sale on the Epic Games Store is currently offering a £10/$10 discount off every game priced at £14/$15 at no cost to developers or publishers.
Available from now until June 13, 2019, the Epic Mega Sale – available in all territories – has also been extended to all games purchased between May 2nd, 2019 and May 15th, 2019, so any players who recently bought a game will automatically receive the discount (thanks, GI.biz). Those who have preordered a title at any point before May 16th will also receive the £10/$10 discounts, preventing the need for players to cancel/re-order existing preorders to qualify for the saving.
“We will refund you the difference in price between what you paid and what you would have paid during the Epic Mega Sale (inclusive of the $10 off from Epic),” Epic said in its FAQ. “You will receive your refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days.”
Epic recently “quietly unlocked” its digital PC storefront in China earlier this week, making almost all of its games available to purchase in mainland China. While the site does not currently accept credit cards, it does accept payment via the online vendors WeChat and AliPay. As “a low-cost region”, the prices of games like Borderlands 3 and Metro Exodus are “substantially lower than in North America”.
Mobius has confirmed that its Fig-funded space exploration game, Outer Wilds, will be a PC exclusive for Epic Games Store. In a backer update on Fig, Mobius reported that the team had “welcomed helpful partnerships with Annapurna Interactive, XBox, and Epic” and while the game had initially been linked to Linux, Mac and PC on Steam for a Q2 2016 release, the collaborations had helped “keep our small studio running long enough to ship the game at the level of quality that it is today”.
Whilst the studio insists it hopes to “bring the game to your preferred platform as quickly as possible”, many original backers are unhappy that publishing plans have changed, now tying the game to exclusivity periods with both EGS and Xbox One.
