Game Lab Social to help 'foster creativity, collaboration and knowledge sharing' in region

Ex-Blitz devs open new Leamington Spa studio

Two former senior Blitz Games Studios developers have opened a new studio in Leamington Spa in the wake of the company’s closure.

Blitz closed its doors today after 23 years, affecting some 175 staff at the popular UK studio.

Former Blitz project directors Oliver Clarke and Steve Stopps however have now opened a new studio in the region called Game Lab Social.

The new firm is designed to act as a studio space to help “foster creativity, collaboration and knowledge sharing”. The studio will host workshops, on-site training and access to marketing, pitching and monetisation expertise for local developers.

Game Lab Social will also be supported by Warwick District Council.

“Leamington Spa is a hotbed of creative talent and ideas waiting come together, and with this space, we’d like to help creatives realise their vision in a supportive environment,” said co-founder Stopps.

“We’re saddened by the closure of Blitz Game Studios, and as a former employees, we’ll do everything we can to help connect creative talent to enable them to get straight back into what they do best; making fantastic games.”
