Preferred Marketing Developer program to connect studios with brands looking to build social network content

Facebook launches new developer program

Facebook has established a new Preferred Marketing Developer program conceived to support developers looking to create content on the social network for brands.

The program comes as a result of the social networking giant combining its previous Preferred Developer Consultant (PDC) program and Marketing API Program (MAP).

"The goal of the PMD program is to bring developers to the right clients and make it possible for any brand or company to find consultants who can work with them to build comprehensive Facebook campaigns and presences," said Facebook’s John Yi, who has served as manager of the former MAP initiative, in a statement on the company’s official developer blog.

"This year we saw our largest application round to date. The first new class of PMDs includes 141 companies from 20 countries that were not previously represented in the PDC or MAP programs. With these changes, there are now 232 PMDs headquartered in 35 countries."

The new PMD program will give developers more ways to connect with potential clients, and allow them to promote specific expertise and specialties. It also provides a new unified submission system that lets studios apply whenever they are ready, as opposed to having to subscribe to periodic rounds.

More information is available on the Facebook developer blog.
