FIFA 15 stays No.1 for third week in UK chart as Alien: Isolation sneaks into second

FIFA 15 has remained the UK’s biggest-selling game for a third week running, despite competition from Alien: Isolation.

EA’s football game held offthe challenge posed by four new games in the Top Ten, according to the latest Ukie games charts, compiled by GfK Chart-Track.

The closest contender was Sega’s survival horror take on the Alien franchise, Alien: Isolation, which burst into the charts at number two. The game hit PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC last Tuesday, October 7th.

Meanwhile, former challenger, Warner Bros’ Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, saw its sales more than halve as it dropped to third position.

Microsoft’s Xbox-exclusive open-world racing game Forza Horizon 2, which launched alongside Shadow of Mordor, similarly saw sales fall by more than 50 per cent, down one place to number four.

The second-biggest new release last week was Sony’s socially-driven racing title DriveClub, which debuted one place higher than Actision’s five-week-old record-breaking shooter Destiny. DriveClub scrapes into the top Five while Destiny sits at six.

Another new game to hit shelves last week was Activision’s toys-to-life sequel Skylanders Trap Team, which managed to grab a Top Ten debut at seven.

Following Trap Team in eighth is the fourth and final Top Ten new release, 2K’s basketball title NBA 2K15.

The only other new release within the Top 40 was Square Enix’s Definitive Edition of Sleeping Dogs, which misses out on a Top Ten entry by three spaces, launching at number 13.
