Developer-publisher also looking to expand into virtual reality and eSports

Firefly Games raises $10m to make mobile movie spin-offs

Mobile outlet Firefly Games’ second round of funding has injected the studio with $10 million to help it grow.

The investment was led by Chinese bank China Construction Bank International Holdings and valued the company, which began life early last year, at $100 million.

It follows a separate $8 million funding round in February of last year for the Rush of Heroes (pictured) studio.

According to VentureBeat, the studio will use the financial support to increase its development of games based on Hollywood film properties, with a development team for its debut title already formed.

CEO Michael Zhang added that: “We see an expansion opportunity to diversify and leverage our current strengths into Hollywood IP, VR and eSports.”
