Footballer Gerard Piqué is working on his own eSports organisation

F.C. Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué has announced his plans to enter the world of eSports.

In an interview on Spanish radio Piqué said that he had only learnt of eSports in the last few months, but already was looking into options to enter the scene. Instead of looking to invest and partner with an organisation he wants his own thing, much like NBA star Rick Fox, meaning he could be about to drop a wad of cash.

At this moment it sounds like he doesn’t have any concrete plans, but you can probably expect that to change come the summer when he gets some time off from playing and can focus on his other ventures.

Piqué is of course familiar with the larger games industry, and he even owns his own studio, responsible for the Golden Manager mobile game.
