Studio brands The Collective and Shiny are no more – owner Foundation 9 Entertainment has merged the two studios and renamed them Double Helix.
The rebranding follows news last year that the two were to be merged into new facilities in South California.
Double Helix now forms part of F9E’s new corporate HQ and combines the studios’ existing proprietary tech, production processes and teams.
"Making games is in our DNA," said studio head, Michael Saxs Persson. "The Double Helix name is perfect for our studio because it invokes the thought of two studios coming together to build a powerful new force in game development.
"We want our team members to feel like they have a certain level of ownership over their studio," added Persson. "By allowing them to generate names and logo concepts, we’ve given them the opportunity to steer the branding in a direction that fits their personalities."
