New categories announced for musical composition, QA & localisation, talent investment and special prize Studio of the Year – lobbying now open

Four new prizes up for grabs at Develop Awards 2014

There are more chances to win than ever before at the Develop Awards 2014, thanks to the creation of four brand new categories.

The hugely popular awards ceremony returns on Wednesday, July 9th, once again hosted at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

There are a total of 23 awards up for grabs, and lobbying is now open. Just check our full lobbying guide to find out which categories you want to nominate for, then send a 350-word pitch and five bullet points to developawards@intentmedia.co.uk.

The four new categories are:

Musical Composition
This brand new award recognises the achievements of composers and music designers based on a single track from a game or gaming content released in the last year. The track nominated should have been composed by a composer or team based in the UK or Europe.

QA & Localisation
Open to any UK or European company that has contributed significantly to the testing and translation of games and gaming content, providing these have been released or actively developed in the past 12 months.

Talent Investment
Our third new award recognises efforts made by UK and European studios or companies that have put significant effort into bringing new development talent into the industry and generating interest in games development careers.

Studio of the Year
This new Special Award gives singular recognition to a studio that has produced outstanding work in the past twelve months, primarily though any retail or download games that have been released commercially in the past 12 months. It is open to any UK or European games development studio and the winner will be selected by the Develop team.

Think you deserve a Develop Award? You can find out in our full lobbying guide online, and it will also be printed in the March issue of Develop. This details the criteria for every category and what you should be sending with your nomination to developawards@intentmedia.co.uk.

The deadline for lobbying is Tuesday, April 15th at 5pm.

Once submissions are sent in, they will be vetted by the Develop Team and the finalists will be announced in a few moths.

The Develop Awards are supported by platinum sponsors Crytek and Deep Silver and gold sponsors Codemasters and Amiqus. OPM has signed up as table gift partner, while Tandem is event partner.
