It appears that High Street retailer GAME is set to open one of its new arena locations in central London.
That’s going by a post made by SVP of eSports and competitive gaming strategy Craig Fletcher on Twitter (below) which shows a store under construction with the address ‘162-170 Wardour Street’ in the window.
That just so happens to be the location of a shop site located off Oxford Street. GAME used to have a site on Oxford Street, but this was closed down in September 2012. This was the retailer’s flagship store.
Given that it’s Fletcher tweeting this information out, it can also be presumed that this has something to do with GAME’s events and eSports ambitions. MCV has reached out to GAME PR for confirmation.
Fletcher founded events firm Multiplay, which was bought by GAME for 20m in March 2015. Last month he was promoted to SVP eSports and competitive gaming strategy.
Speaking to MCV in October, CEO Martyn Gibbs announced that ten giant GAME arena stores will be opening across the UK.
