CEO of Realtime Worlds to make keynote speech in Newcastle

GameHorizon Conference to return in 2009

Codeworks GameHorizon has announced that its GameHorizon Conference is to return in 2009, taking place from June 23-24th at the Sage Gateshead in Newcastle.

The event is being pitched as essential for those working across the game publishing, development, middleware and hardware industries, and hopes to also attract professional service firms. Over 300 visitors are expected to attend the Codeworks’ conference, which strives to bring them the ‘cutting edge of the games industry’.

Building on the success of the first event, which took place in June this year, the conference has confirmed Realtime Worlds’ CEO David Jones as the keynote speaker. Jones, who was fundamental in creating Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto, now heads up the UK studio behind Crackdown, and will be speaking along with Epic Games’ Mark Rein and Roger Walkden, chief executive of Game Domain International.

Carri Cunliffe, head of sector development at Codeworks GameHorizon, said: "The first GameHorizon Conference attracted hundreds of games execs from around Europe, so it was really an easy decision to run the event once again. Whilst there are several conferences and expos that look in-depth at the details of games art and programming, we felt there was a gap in the market for an event which focused on higher level business issues, new technologies and future opportunities.”
