Ninja Theory and Game Investor speakers added to roster

GameHorizon line-up expands

Two more speakers have been added to the GameHorizon Conference’s programme.

First up, Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades will talk to assembled executives about diversifying IP into other media and his experience on working with non-games companies such as Weta Digital.

"A lot of games technology is actually being used in films today. A lot of the skills and the people are interchangeable. Movies are just another way to express your IP," he explained.

"Finding new avenues to exploit IP makes sense. Your chance of success is greater if there’s more at stake, in a way. If both the games industry and the film industry are behind your project you’ve got a much greater chance of making that hit. We’re in a hit-driven business, so that becomes hugely important for companies that want to be successful."

Also featuring at this month’s event will be Games Investor’s Rick Gibson, who’ll present ‘Future Business of Games’ – a look at how the games industry will change over the next few years and whether the traditional games market has reached saturation point.

"The future is mass-market and it’s online. In a market where the very definition of a game is challenged every few months, companies need to keep a weather eye on some big trends that are driving major changes in the market," he says.

"The people playing games are changing rapidly, the platforms are fragmenting and globalisation is changing how games are made as well played. Innovation in games genres and commercial models is also driving change, particularly in the online games market."

The GameHorizon Conference takes place at the Baltic Flour Mill in Newcastle, Gateshead on June 18th and 19th. More information can be found at the event website.
