GamesAid charities unveiled

Industry charity GamesAid has selected the five charities that will receive a donation of 20,000 each.

The number is a 76 per cent increase in donations year-on-year. The five charities are Action for Kids, Special Effect, The Willow Foundation, Families Need Fathers and Volunteer Centre Sutton: MAPS.

The 20,000 donations are in addition to the continued funding of the Paddington Academy, which this year came directly from sales of the PS3 Triple Pack, which was released in June.

Andy Payne, Chairman of GamesAid, said: We are delighted to be donating to these five charities, all of whom do an extremely important job in this country and contribute greatly to improving the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.

It is especially pleasing to see that the members of GamesAid have once again voted to make this a completely democratic decision. We look forward to working closely with these charities in the forthcoming year and ensuring we update the members and the industry in general on all their fantastic efforts, as we do every year. It’s a real shame that there had to be three charities that missed out. The voting was so close this year, we would encourage everyone to pitch in, join GamesAid and have their say going forward.”

People within UK games industry are encouraged to become members of GamesAid aby registering online at www.gamesaid.org.
