Getty Images has joined UK games industry trade body TIGA.
While Getty – most famous as a giant image library – isn’t an immediately obvious fit for the games industry, it is the world’s largest provider and creator of still pictures, video, audio and multimedia and has supplied material for numerous gaming projects.
Getty appears particularly keen to support game developers via it’s Getty Images Music department, which presently licenses more than 200,000 tracks per year across the likes of film, television, movie trailers and commercials.
"Our extensive music portfolio is perfectly suited to use within gaming," said Richard Simon, business development manager for Getty Images, on the motivation for joining TIGA. "With our recent partnership announcements with Atom music licensing, Ah2 and Indaba music, music is a key focus for Getty Images and we are excited to be a part of TIGA."
“TIGA is relentlessly focused on helping UK game developers and developer-publishers to succeed and to make the UK the best place in the world to do games business," added TIGA CEO Dr Richard Wilson. "To achieve these objectives, TIGA is constantly looking for new partners who can work with game developers and developer-publishers to enhance their games. Getty Images provides several new services which will be valued by game developers. We welcome Getty Images to TIGA.”
Getty Images Music has at its core a 125,000 track library of non-royalty bearing and pre-cleared music sourced from established artists and partners.
