GT5s £450 wheel goes on sale

The Thrustmaster T500 RS – otherwise known as the PS3’s most expensive steering wheel peripheral – has gone on sale.

Officially licensed by Sony and Gran Turismo 5, the wheel and pedal set comes with an RRP of 449.99. It features 17cm metal gearshift levers, central wheel spokes and a foot rest.

The 30cm wheel boasts customisable 1,080-degree rotation and force feedback. The three pedals are height adjustable and offer two positions – a floor-mounted F1 style or ‘suspended’ GT setup.

CEO of Polyphony Digital and senior VP of SCE Kazunori Yamauchi said: The goal I set for the Thrustmaster team was to design the most precise wheel ever without any latency, to accurately reproduce the sensations of GT5 and let users truly feel the emotions experienced by drivers on real racing circuits.”

In a statement Thrustmaster added: The T500 RS wheel and pedal set specially designed for GT5 is a racing assembly that lets gamers live the most realistic, powerful driving experience with no compromise.”

On its first week on sale last November Gran Turismo 5 knocked Call of Duty: Black Ops off the top of the GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 chart.
