Cibele, Undertale and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes also among those recognised at indie celebration

Her Story wins IGF Awards Grand Prize

Her Story has been heralded as the best indie game of the last year at the Independent Games Festival Awards.

Sam Barlow’s FMV-driven crime drama walked away with the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the 18th instalment of the IGF Awards during GDC 2016. It also claimed the Excellence in Narrative honour.

Other winners on the night included Steel Crate Games’ multiplayer VR party game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, which received the Excellence in Design accolade.

Night School Studio’s Oxenfree was recognised for Excellence in Art , while Dinosaur Polo Club’s Mini Metro swiped the Excellence in Audio trophy.

The Nuovo Award, which seeks out more unconventional games, went to Star Maid Games for Cibele, a romantic drama based semi-autobiographically on developer Nina Freeman.

Jennifer Jiao Hsia and Alec Thomson’s unique match-three effort Beglitched claimed Best Student Game, while Toby Fox’s cult hit Undertale was voted top in the Audience Award category.
