Four unsigned projects take the industry spotlight

Indies triumph in Game Connection dev contest

Game Connection Europe has revealed the final winner of its Selected Projects 2012 development contest.

The winner of the Best Project prize was handed to Mimimi Productions for its project, Tink. The game edged ahead of the competition in a tight contest of fifteen finalists.

Mimimi will take back to the office development kits for both PS3 and PS Vita, along with pledged development support from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

The announcement was made today at Game Connection Europe in Paris, France, following live presentations of each project to a panel of publishers, investors and industry experts.

The two runners up, Casual Brothers and Blossom Minds, will both be invited to Sony’s London offices for a training day that offers technical support, QA and business advice regarding PlayStation Network.

The Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Award was given to Facepalm Games for its project The Swapper.

Facepalm will receive hardware and development support, plus pre-certification support.

“The standard of this year’s entries for Selected Projects has been phenomenal,” said Game Connection organiser Pierre Carde.

“We’ve seen many brilliant ideas which prove beyond a doubt that innovation is alive and well in video games. I would like to extend my personal thanks to Sony Computer Entertainment and the entire panel of judges who have given their time and expertise so willingly in support of the initiative. Lastly of course, my congratulations go to the very deserving winners. I can’t wait to see their inspiring projects come to fruition.”
