Kiefer Sutherland is the new voice of Metal Gear Solid’s Snake

The Lost Boys and 24 star Kiefer Sutherland is to be the new voice of Metal Gear Solid star Snake.

He replaces the outgoing David Hayter who has not, despite calls from fans, been recast in the role.

The events of Metal Gear Solid 5 will take place in 1984, meaning Sutherland’s Snake will be 49 years old. The Hollywood star was also involved in the game’s motion capture.

"It’s an honour to be able to play this character," Sutherland stated. "This character has an unbelievable legacy. There’s a real personal quality to the character that I’ve connected to.

I’m not a gamer, and I even knew about this game. I was certainly keenly aware of the legacy of these games, the unbelievable success of these games."
