Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,” the publisher told Kotaku.
In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.”
The expected demise of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Torro’s Silent Hills was reported this morning after del Torro told an audience at a San Francisco film festival that the game "is not gonna happen". Norman Reedus, who was due to star in the game, later tweeted that he was super bummed” about the news.
Previous to this Konami revealed that PT, the interactive Silent Hills demo released last autumn, will be removed from PSN on Wednesday (April 29th).
Earlier today Konami confirmed that its contract Norman Reedus had expired but refused to be drawn on the future of Silent Hills, simply telling GameSpot: "We will continue to develop the Silent Hill series."
Whether this is all linked to the ongoing fallout between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Konami remains unknown, although it’s hard to imagine that the events are disconnected. Indeed, Konami even removed references to Kojima from the Silent Hills website.
