Krome confirms layoff measures

More staff redundancies have taken place at Australian outfit Krome, the group has confirmed to Joystiq.

"We regret to confirm an unspecified number of positions have been eliminated today at Krome,” read a prepared statement.

“The industry worldwide is facing new challenges and Krome is not immune to the effects of this. Beyond that, we cannot make a comment."

According to apparent anonymous sources, as many as fifty staff have been let go at the developer’s Brisbane studio.

Develop contacted the company’s CEO, Robert Walsh, for clarification – though the studio head has been quiet on the issue for a number of months, and appears reluctant to discuss the realities affecting his business and workforce.

The layoffs follow on from the wave of staff cuts made back in November – a measure which affected three separate Krome studios situated in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Two existing reports conflict on the number of new layoffs that have taken place at the studio. An IGN report suggests 30 are gone, while AusGamers pins the number of redundancies to 50.

Before the first wave of cuts in November, Krome had a workforce of around 400 staff.
