MCV news app for iPhone available now

Own an iPhone? You can now download an app that puts MCV’s daily must-read online news content in the palm of your hand.

The appoffers a raft of unique functions, including up-to-the-minute news direct from MCVuk.com plus a completely customisable homepage and industry event listings.

MCV Online for iPhone is completely free and available to download right now – click here to be taken direct to iTunes to download it straight away.

The app includes a fully-searchable news archive, the ability to save favourite articles for offline reading, Facebook and Twitter sharing functionality, side-swipe gesture to change articles, and YouTube video integration.

The new app goes live following the incredibly successful roll-out of the new MCV digital edition and associated iPad app.

The interactive iPad edition of the weekly MCV magazine, including embedded video content, is now read by 3,000 industry professionals.

The digital edition is completely free and is also viewable via all PC and Mac web browsers – click here for our archive of issues.

MCV continues to widen its print edition and web-based readership,” commented MCV publisher and Intent Media boss Stuart Dinsey.

Over 14,000 retailers and trade professionals now read either the print, iPad or browser edition every week, whilst our online content has achieved an average monthly readership of over 250,000 trade and elite gamers throughout 2010.”

We’ve also added a host of new functions to the MCV magazine iPad digital edition.

These include: push notifications to keep you notified when new issues go live; embedded video playback and an in-built media player; options to download content or stream it later; web links in URLs, text and images; and a vector text function that means the copy on each page will appear crisp even at the highest zoom level.

And coming soon this month: in-app browsing for when you click URLs leading away from the digital edition; slideshow galleries; and a single-page landscape mode.

You can download the free iPad app here.
